Cotswold District Council Press Release date: 28 May 2019
Cotswold District Council’s Environmental Services team has recently produced a map that shows locations in the District where fly tipping is most prevalent, with the aim of enlisting the public’s help to crack down on illegal dumping ‘hot spots’.
The Council is urging local residents to study the map (opens in a new window) and be extra vigilant in the areas marked with a red pin, reporting any suspicious tipping activities to the Council whenever possible.
Cllr Andrew Doherty, CDC’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for tackling fly tipping, explains,
“Cotswold District, covering 450 square miles, is one of the largest districts in the country making it difficult to guard against determined fly tippers. We hope that highlighting the areas where this is more common will enable local residents to help identify these criminals and reduce the impact on their environment.
“No-one should put themselves in danger, but it is always useful to be vigilant for suspicious tipping activity. You should inform the Council about suspicious activity ASAP by calling on 01285 623123 or via our online form. The more detail you can provide the more likely it is to have results.
